SaaS Platform Cost-to-Serve Assessment
For SaaS companies that have reached product-market fit. Identify what drives the cost of serving customers and which engineering changes could reduce it.
Let’s TalkA cost baseline
Understand the cost of serving customers, tenants, transactions, or workloads.
Clear priorities
Compare engineering opportunities by likely impact, effort, and uncertainty.
An implementation roadmap
A practical sequence of improvements, with a walkthrough of the findings.
Optional Platform Risk Review
Extend the assessment to investigate architecture, security, recovery, and critical dependencies beyond their impact on delivery costs.
US$25,000 total with the add-on
What we examine
- The cost of serving customers across applications, infrastructure, onboarding, support, and recurring manual work.
- A relevant unit: customer, tenant, transaction, or workload.
- Architecture, reliability, security, and dependencies where they affect delivery costs.
- Where relevant, AI usage, retries, and human review costs.
What you receive
- A documented cost-to-serve baseline, with incomplete attribution and assumptions made explicit.
- Prioritized engineering opportunities, compared by likely impact and implementation effort.
- Cash savings, avoided future costs, and recovered capacity identified separately.
- An implementation roadmap with sequencing, effort ranges, dependencies, and ownership, followed by a walkthrough.
Before we begin
- Share the cost question, billing and usage information, and available application and infrastructure access.
- We agree to platform boundaries, review depth, priorities, and a delivery date with your business and technical leads.
- Implementation is scoped separately. You can use the findings with Aligned, your team, or another provider.
- Savings estimates depend on the available evidence, workload behavior, and the changes you choose.
What the risk add-on covers
- A broader review of architecture, dependencies, and the effects of changes across components.
- Release practices, error visibility, recovery, access boundaries, data flows, and security exposure.
- Operating knowledge concentrated in particular people or providers.
- Findings ranked by business consequence and urgency, with remaining unknowns, remediation options, and priorities included in the same roadmap.
- The add-on is available only with the assessment. Specialized security or compliance work needs a separate scope.

Practical questions
Do we need an assessment first?
No. If the required changes and business case are already understood, we can scope implementation directly. The assessment helps when you need a cost baseline and priorities before choosing the work to fund.
How do you work with our engineering team?
We work alongside your technical leader and maintainers, using their knowledge of the platform. Findings, changes, and decisions stay visible. Your team retains access to code, accounts, and operating guidance.
Assessment credit
Receive a credit equal to 10% of qualifying platform cost-to-serve optimization fees on each invoice until the assessment fee you paid is fully credited: up to US$15,000 for the assessment, or US$25,000 with the Platform Risk Review add-on.
Optimization work may span phases arising from the assessment for the same client. We calculate the 10% credit on optimization fees before credits. Credits are limited to assessment and add-on fees paid; the same optimization fees cannot receive more than one assessment credit.
Qualifying fees exclude assessment and add-on fees, taxes, software licenses, hosting, and other third-party costs. Optimization is a separate purchase, with no minimum commitment required to receive a partial credit.
